Job Summary:



To select appropriate protocols in magnetic resonance imaging in accordance with safety policy and procedure. To correctly manipulate parameters for patient size, condition and diagnosis. To maintain patient and employee safety in the MRI suite. Has knowledge and skills in the operation and functionality of the MRI suite and control room, as well as knowledge of MRI coils.



 



To apply patient care, communication, and reduce patient anxiety in accordance with the hospital’s Patients Rights policies. Knowledge of the needs of patients according to their age group and ability to modify care according to patient’s age.

Job Responsibilities:



1. Reviews the medical record for patient history acquiring pertinent clinical information



2. Ensure appropriate consent forms are signed by the patient or responsible party for all



MRI procedures



3. Select proper scanning procedures for each MRI according to radiologist protocol



4. Correlates accurately contrast media and dosage to examinations according to



department protocol and maintain current knowledge of these agents and their



indications/contraindications



5. Proficiently operate all functions of MRI equipment, keeping current with changes



in technology



6. Ensures the safety of other personnel and visitors required to remain in the MRI area



7. Performs and documents patient and family education activities including assessing,



performing and documenting



8. Provides age specific care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric population.



9. Supports patient’s rights and responsibilities, including respect of cultural and religious



diversity.







Qualifications







Education Requirements and Other Requirements:



 



Education Level: High school diploma or equivalent.



 



Certification / Licensure: A.R.R.T. registered



 



Current BLS: Required



 



Experience Requirements:



 



 



Working Conditions:



Extensive walking, standing, pushing and/or lifting medium to heavy weight.



 



Exposure Category I: Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues: Al procedures or other



Job related tasks that involve inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes of them are Category I tasks. Use of appropriate protective measures should be required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks.
