Custodial Position
Job Description
Position Summary: Full time position, 35-40 hours per week. Bethel is seeking a dedicated and motivated person to complete duties related to cleaning and sanitizing of all areas of the building, as well as meeting/event ministry setup of assigned areas. Perform light maintenance and minor repairs for building needs and equipment. Complete duties related to cleaning and sanitizing the interior of the building for Bethel Academy, assigned exterior portions of the building, and other related responsibilities.
Essential Functions:
1. Complete all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned areas and equipment. Duties include, but are not limited to running floor cleaning machines, wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, vacuuming, carpet upkeep, and general cleaning of building and bathrooms.
2. Operate related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
3. Restocking of soap, paper towels, and other supplies for all restrooms and kitchen.
4. Keeps an accurate accounting of suppliers, cleaning supplies, and inventory.
5. Orders supplies as needed and approved.
6. Set up tables, chairs, and other supplies, as needed for meetings, events, and ministry.
7. Ensuring proper room configurations and cleanliness before and after events.
8. Performing light maintenance and minor repairs for building needs and equipment.
9. Record and report all needed building and equipment repairs to the Facilities Manager.
10. Adjust thermostats for comfort and energy efficiency
11. Recruit and train volunteers as needed.
12. Secure doors and windows, unlock and locking of the building, setting of security, and other related responsibilities.
13. Complete other custodial duties as requested by the Facilities Manager, or other Staff team members.
Qualifications:
1. The work requires moderate physical exertion under normal conditions. Must be in good physical health and able to lift, carry, bend, and stand for extended periods of time.
2. Ability to invest in, assign, train, inspect and evaluate the activities of subordinate personnel or volunteers engaged in custodial or maintenance duties.
3. Must be able to work some weekday, some evenings, and Sundays.
4. Knowledge of safety practices related to the work.
5. Have a strong work ethic and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
6. Previous custodial or maintenance experience is a plus, but not required.
7. Must complete a background check, as well as the MinistrySafe Sexual Abuse and Awareness Training.
